FREE BROCHURES

Two brochures addressing the issues revolving around temporal bone donation and research are available to individuals interested in donation and clinicians or researchers interested in displaying the brochures in a clinic or office. These brochures are available free of charge through the Registry. (See below for order information.)

THAT OTHERS MAY HEAR

That Others May Hear is a short fold-out brochure which briefly introduces the NIDCD National Temporal Bone Registry and answers some questions about temporal bone donation and research. Incorporated into this brochure is a self-addressed, postage-paid postcard which interested individuals can use to request either more information and/or enrollment forms. When the Registry receives this postcard from an individual, the booklet, The Gift of Hearing, is mailed to the prospective donor.

THE GIFT OF HEARING AND BALANCE
The Gift of Hearing and Balance is a 15-page, full-color booklet which introduces the NIDCD National Temporal Bone Registry and the National Donor Program which it manages. A brief explanation of how the ear "hears" is included with a cross-section diagram of the organs of hearing and balance. The booklet discusses some common types of hearing loss and other ear problems and explains how studying the temporal bone can improve the understanding of these disorders. Some benefits of temporal bone research are highlighted and common questions regarding procedures involved with temporal bone donation are answered. The booklet finishes with instructions on how one can enroll as a donor and how the Registry can be contacted.
