Two brochures addressing the issues revolving around
temporal bone donation and research are available to individuals interested in donation
and clinicians or researchers interested in displaying the brochures in a clinic or
office. These brochures are available free of charge through the
Registry. (See below for order information.)

That Others May Hear
is a short fold-out brochure which briefly introduces the NIDCD National Temporal Bone
Registry and answers some questions about temporal bone donation and research.
Incorporated into this brochure is a self-addressed, postage-paid postcard which
interested individuals can use to request either more information and/or enrollment forms.
When the Registry receives this postcard from an individual, the booklet, The Gift of
Hearing, is mailed to the prospective donor.

THE GIFT OF HEARING AND BALANCE |

The
Gift of Hearing and Balance is a 15-page, full-color booklet which introduces the
NIDCD National Temporal Bone Registry and the National Donor Program which it manages. A
brief explanation of how the ear "hears" is included with a cross-section
diagram of the organs of hearing and balance. The booklet discusses some common types of
hearing loss and other ear problems and explains how studying the temporal bone can
improve the understanding of these disorders. Some benefits of temporal bone research are
highlighted and common questions regarding procedures involved with temporal bone donation
are answered. The booklet finishes with instructions on how one can enroll as a donor and
how the Registry can be contacted.

To request brochures, contact the Registry by
phone, fax, TDD, email, or by US mail (see contact information below). Order
forms for manual faxing may be printed
out from the Fax Form page. Printing the
above forms from this web site. Some of the forms available from this
